Normal Day

I can't believe today's module at INTI today is blog creation =.= Most people already have blogs or are not interested at all, so the computers in this lab are used for DotA, Youtube, Facebook (including me;) ) and whatever else comes to mind. The bridging program is now something like a chance to use the computers here for free. The module doesn't tell how to program the HTML of the blog...and how to add a picture to the background?? But for now, I'll try out some things they asked to try.

Different versions of Rondo Alla Turca-W. A. Mozart

The normal version...playable, but needs accuracy.

A Major Rondo

Fazil Say - Turkish March...who can play like that??

What's Your Wife's Name?

This was taken (and edited) from a Reader's Digest book.

To find your wife's name, just follow the instructions 1 to 10 and it will be accurate, guaranteed that the calculations and info put in are correct. For girls, you can find out if you'll be a particular person's wife by adding the guy's info. (Prepare a calculator or rough paper, the sums may become quite big)

1. Write down the number corresponding to the month of your birth from Table 1.

Table 1
January-90..........July-70
February-80.......August-80
March-70..........September-90
April-60............October-80
May-50.............November-70
June-60............December-60

2. Add the number corresponding to your favourite dish from Table 2.

Table 2
Any of Chinese Noodles - 8
Hamburger and Fries - 7
Ham and Eggs - 6
Chicken Rice - 5
Franks and Beans - 4
Tuna Fish Casserole - 3
Others - 9

3. Multiply the answer by ten. Then add 3 if you want the name of your future wife, 2 for your present wife, 1 for your last wife.

4. Reverse the order of the figures and subtract the result from the number you had before reversing. (eg: 521 becomes 125 on reversing, which is subtracted from 521...leaving 396)

5. Reverse this answer and add the result to the number it was before reversing. (eg: 396 becomes 693 on reversing, which is added to 396)

6. Add 423571.

7. Look up the number corresponding to the first letter of your surname in Table 3 and place it on the right hand side of the previous answer. (eg: Smith as your name, and the previous answer was 123 456,you would place the two figures corresponding to S, which are 60, on the right, giving you 12 345 660.

Table 3
A-20....... G-64.......M-42..........S-60.......Y - 86
B-40.......H-68........N-66...........T-44.......Z - 56
C-48........I-24.........O-26...........U-28
D-62.......J-80.........P-82............V-84
E-22 .......K-54........Q-90...........W-88
F-50....... L-52........R-46............X-58

8. Repeat step 7 with the next letter of your surname and continue for all the letters, in order, in your surname.

9. Halve the answer.

10. Divide the answer into groups of two figures. Each group represents a letter of your wife's name, when referred to Table 4. Thus, if the answer is 21 10 23 43, her name will be Mary.

Table 4
10 - A.......... 21 - M..........27 - K............33 - N.........44 - W
11 - E............22 - T...........28 - Z............34 - H.........45 - Q
12 - I............23 - R ..........29 - X............40 - J
13 - O...........24 - C...........30 - S............41 - P
14 - U...........25 - F ..........31 - D.............42 - V
20 - B...........26 - L...........32 - G............43 - Y

Did you get it? ;) Congrats to those who got what they wanted! I also refuse to take blame for any unsatisfactory results.

Love

I was recently with a group of friends at a party. We played and talked around, somehow leading to love lives (as is usual at parties, I think). Skipping forward to the main topic here, a friend asked me "What is love?" (he was having some problems with his feelings and wanted to know if he was indeed in love). That was stunning...so simple, but how to answer? "Er, it's a feeling, la! You'll know it when you've felt it". I'm not even sure if my definition was correct...it sounds true enough to me, though it didn't work for him. It made me follow up with "It's when you start to feel for someone, and it's not just an excited or 'desperate' feeling". I think that's even more wrong:\ It made me think for some time about that question. Leads me to today, when I looked up the meaning of 'love' on the internet:

Definition of love as from
http://www.answer.com/

noun
1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness.

2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance.

3. a) Sexual passion.
b) Sexual intercourse.
c) A love affair.
4. An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object.

5. A person who is the object of deep or intense affection or attraction; beloved. Often used as a term of endearment.

6. An expression of one's affection: Send him my love.

7. a) A strong predilection or enthusiasm: a love of language.
b) The object of such an enthusiasm: The outdoors is her greatest love.

8. Love Mythology. Eros or Cupid.

9. often Love Christianity. Charity.

10. Sports. A zero score in tennis.

In the thesaurus, it gets more vague:

noun
1. Deep and ardent affection: adoration, devotion, worship. See like/dislike, love/hatred.

2. The passionate affection and desire felt by lovers for each other: amorousness, fancy, passion, romance. See love/hatred, sex/asexual.

3. An intimate sexual relationship between two people: affair, amour, love affair, romance. See love/hatred, sex/asexual.

4. The condition of being closely tied to another by affection or faith: affection, attachment, devotion, fondness, liking, loyalty (used in plural). See connect.

5. A person who is much loved: beloved, darling, dear, honey, minion, precious, sweet, sweetheart, truelove. Informal sweetie. Idioms: light of one's life. See love/hatred.

6. A strong, enthusiastic liking for something: love affair, passion, romance. See love/hatred.

Obviously, some of the 10 definitions don't meet what I wanted and the thesaurus just gave synonyms. Maybe I wasn't looking for a right definition, because dictionary definitions 1 and 2 may be close enough. More accurate answer might have been to explain and describe it to my troubled friend, but I can't describe it either. There's no standard 'love symptom' to diagnose if someone is in love. Feeling it is the only way to find out, I conclude, but that's not very fair either, because every feeling can be accounted for.

The question... What is love?

Explanations, descriptions, please? Those who explain get chances to be social professors and modern philosophers ;)

SPM

Woohoo! SPM over! My 5 years of secondary over! I suppose this super late blog is as a prayer to my SPM results and future in education. As advise to all future hopefulls, start studying early. Important to know things:

1. Most important is exam format, don't know this, can't go anywhere
2. Depends on you, but understanding the topic is perhaps better than rote memory in most subjects
3. Consistent (even is its short) studying is better than cramming long hours...you'll just get yourself tired and memory power slows down
4. Relax time can be equal to study time at first, but I suggest increasing study time when nearing SPM
5. Late hours as little as possible before exam (make 12am the max)
6. Depending on school (supposing the teachers are bad), don't listen to them...instead study on your own at home. Some may find that a more effective method (though unorthodoxed)
7. If religion plays a big role, then pray hard:)

Lastly, I can wonderfully shout "I've finished SPM!" and laugh at those who have yet to finish it:)
All the best to the rest, especially to my fellow form 5ers!!

Test

Testing... 1... 2... 3...

Sorry, I'm still new here. Need adjusting time. I'll be sure to post properly next time.
